Welcome to the web site of the Lyon County Treasurer.  It is our goal to provide you with the information you need to contact us and to conduct business with this office.  There are four main areas of operation for the Treasurer’s office.  They are:

• The collection of property taxes for all real estate, mobile homes and special assessments in Lyon County.  We administer the Iowa Property Tax Program, Elderly Tax Credit Program, conduct the annual tax sale for the collection of delinquent taxes and answer inquiries concerning taxes.  You may pay your taxes online at www.iowatreasurers.org.

• The issuance of vehicle titles and registrations and the collection of all vehicle fees for the residents of Lyon County.  We process all of the vehicle transactions and answer the many questions concerning titling and licensing of motor vehicles.  Online renewals are available at www.iowatreasurers.org.

• The issuance and renewals of driver’s licenses.  All written tests and driving tests are administered  in Rock Rapids at the Treasurer's Office.  CDL and motorcycle test are given by appointment. 

• The Treasurer's Office is also responsible for financial administration, banking services, cash management and investments for the county.  We manage about $23 million per year in receipts, distribution of collections to schools, cities and all other taxing agencies.

• The U. S. Dept. of State has authorized the tax dept. of the
  Treasurer's office to accept passport applications on their behalf.  U.S. citizens may apply for their passports during our normal
