8/5/2008 Minutes Of Lyon County Economic Development Board August 5, 2008, 4:30 P.M. 3rd Floor of the Lyon County Courthouse Vice President Rhonda Menning called the meeting to order. In attendance were: Jerry Nichols George Leonard Vanden Bosch Larchwood Rhonda Menning Rock Rapids Isaac Rinkenberger Lester Daniel Moen Inwood (By Speaker Phone) Glenn Anderson Lyon County Economic Development Director Ross Loomans Lyon Rural Electric Cooperative Also in attendance Larry Landman Doon Press Carl Palmberg June Palmberg Minutes The minutes of the July 16, 2008, Meeting were presented. A motion to approve the minutes as printed was made by Jerry Nichols and supported by Leonard Vanden Bosch. Motion carried. Lyon County Resort/Casino Director Anderson reported that the Non-Profit Foundation has been setup and that it has been meeting. Kehl Management has setup an office in the Rock Rapids Community Affairs Office. Lyon County Economic Development 501 (c)(3) Director Anderson reported and provided copies of the Articles of Incorporation of Lyon County Economic Development 501 (c)(3), LCED, that were filed with Iowa Secretary of State and an Acknowledgement of Document Filed from the Iowa Secretary of State. A motion to hire Dave De Noble to prepare and file an application for tax exempt status for LCED was made by Jerry Nichols and supported by Leonard Vanden Bosch. Motion carried. Combining the Lyon County Consortium and the Lyon County Economic Development Boards. Director Anderson was directed to obtain a copy of the Articles of Incorporation and Bylaws for the Lyon County Consortium and provide them along with the Articles of Incorporation and Bylaws for the Lyon County Economic Development Board to the County Attorney or hire an Attorney to provide a legal opinion on the ability to combine these Organizations. Director Anderson noted that he has contacted USDA Rural Development and was informed that they would be unable to provide an answer regarding their determination of approval of combining these Boards until at least December 2008. Announcements Director Anderson will send an e-mail to all Board Members to determine the next meeting date. All meetings are scheduled to be held at 4:30 P.M., Jury Room, 3rd Floor of the Courthouse. Adjournment A motion was made by Isaac Rinkenberger and supported by Jerry Nichols to adjourn.
